1 Who Shot Thebarman Settled too far back when 10.5 lengths 9th to Moss ‘n’ Dale in G3 Craven Plate (2000m) on heavy ground at Randwick on 13 October. Suited by rise in distance. Won this race last year and was second in 2016.
2 Patrick Erin Strong stayer who scored nose win from Brimham Rocks, who’s since run well, in the G1 The Metropolitan (2400m) at Randwick on 29 September. That was just third run of this campaign and open to further improvement.
3 Egg Tart Sound effort when 2 lengths 3rd to Moss ‘n’ Dale in G3 Craven Plate (2000m) on heavy ground at Randwick on 13 October. Racing well, drawn to get the run of the race and ready for step up in distance.
4 Big Duke Blocked for clear run when 4.9 lengths 15th to Patrick Erin in the G1 The Metropolitan (2400m) at Randwick on 29 September. Vet reported slow recovery, next start, when 19.6 lengths 13th to Yucatan in G2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield on 13 October. Ran close fourth in this race last year.
5 Prize Money Saeed bin Suroor trained visitor who loomed up on turn but faded when 6.5 lengths 9th to Yucatan in G2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield on 13 October. Likely to strip fitter for that run.
6 The Taj Mahal Made his move 800 metres from home and held on well when 3.6 lengths 5th to Best Solution in G1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) last Saturday. Has backed up in seven days and won before.
7 Lord Fandango Had interrupted preparation and getting fitter. Ran home well when 5.2 lengths 6th to Yucatan in G2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield on 13 October. That was only second run this season.
8 Red Cardinal Even effort when 4.1 lengths 3rd to Big Blue in the St Leger (2600m) on heavy ground at Randwick on 13 October. Import who will appreciate firmer ground.
9 Trap For Fools Runs here after Moonee Valley Racing Club deemed him not good enough to contest Cox Plate. Recent form is good including two wins at this track. Led at slow pace and held on OK when 1.9 lengths 5th to Winx in G1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on 6 October.
10 Libran Wide draw and slow pace against when 2.6 lengths 8th to Patrick Erin in the G1 The Metropolitan (2400m) at Randwick on 29 September. Ran second in this race last year and better suited at the weights this time.
11 Ladies First New Zealand mare who ran on well when 1.25 lengths 2nd to Nymph Monte in Hawera (NZ) 2100m Handicap on 13 October. G1 winner of 3200m Auckland Cup earlier this year. Excels on heavy ground but unbeaten in only there starts on good rated tracks.
12 Megablast Vet reported no abnormality after disappointing 21 lengths 11th to Avilius in G3 Bart Cummings (2500m) at Flemington on 6 October. Won ten races all on slow or heavy ground.
13 Tosen Basil Ex Japanese horse who impressed with short head 2nd to Homesman in G1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) on 30 September before disappointing when 7.9 lengths 10th to Benbatl in G1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield on 13 October. Capable of better and rise in distance no issue.
14 Ventura Storm Slow pace against but ran on well when 5.5 lengths 10th to Best Solution in G1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) last Saturday. Has previously run well on quick back-up.
15 Miss Admiration Settled long way back and worked home OK when 5.4 lengths 7th to Yucatan in G2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield on 13 October.
  Reserves  
16 Nakeeta UK visitor who ran very well when fifth in last year’s Melbourne Cup won by Rekindling. Then returned to the UK and last run was 5.3 lengths 7th to Just In Time in Doncaster 2905m Handicap on 14 September. Capable of better.
17 Sully Led and fought on well when short neck 2nd to Octabello in Listed Cranbourne Cup (2025m) on 14 October. Promising stayer who is capable all conditions.
18 Dandy Gent Led and battled on OK when 2.75 lengths 3rd to Master Zephyr in 2200m Hamilton Cup on 13 October. Up in class but has handy record at this track.
