| Agathiyar | Has five thirds in last 13 starts, all at this level, and has made board in 9 of them. Can run from any position and over any going. Just finished 6th on 2 October after 4-month layoff. Good speed and experienced at Kyoto. |
| Duncan | Has failed to make top three in 15 starts since moving to this level in January 2017. Not a contender. |
| Inti | Four-year-old colt has only 4 career starts since debuting in April 2017. Returned after almost a year off to win over 1800m on 15 July at Chukyo. First time at this level. Good speed. Tends to run on pace. First time at Kyoto but has won to the right. |
| King Break | Has not finished in the money since May 2015. Double-digit finishes in 7 of last 14 starts. Has not raced since March 2017. |
| Lala Medaille d’Or | 4-year-old colt returned in August after 8 months off to win first start in 5 races after breaking maiden. Moved to this level and ran 7th last out on 18 September over 1800m. Not promising. |
| Landler | Returned 2 October after 8 months off and was moved to dirt for first time in career. Finished third at this level over 1800m at Hanshin. Runs on pace. Could surprise. |
| Literal Force | 4-year-old colt has only finished out of top three spots 4 times in 14 career starts. Moved from regional racing circuit to JRA since April this year and has finished in top three spots in 4 starts since at level below. First time at this level. Tends to run on or close to pace. Good speed and kick. Promising. |
| Meiner Saluer | Three-year-old colt jumped to G2 level after winning at level below. Failed and moved back to this level. Finished 6th last out over 1800m at Nakayama running for first time in 5 months. Runs from far off pace. Worth a wager if odds are high. |
| Red Diosa | Has not made top spots in last four starts. Missed break in last two races after returning from 6-month layoff. Finished sixth in a 1700m event at Kokura on 2 September. Decent speed, lacks kick. Not promising. |
| Smile Force | Six-year-old horse has turned in 7 double-digit finishes and best 7th in last 10 starts, mostly in the 1700-1800m range. Not promising. |
| Superior City | Has proven inconsistent but somewhat successful in last 9 starts, all but one at this level and has notched one win, a second and a third from them. Tends to run midfield or just ahead. Finished 9th last out on 22 September at Nakayama. |
| T M Cherokee | Four-year-old colt raced at sprint distances for all 18 career starts, with 1 win and a second at this level in past 5 outings. Being given 1800m for first time. Tends to run on or close to pace. Good speed but little kick. Could surprise if race unfolds in his favour. |
| T M Chuhai | Has had considerable success in past 10 starts, all but one at this level. Has three seconds and a third at this level. Failed in two starts this fall. Should show improvement this time out. Good speed. Has experience at Kyoto. Tends to run close to pace. |
