The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Pre-Season Carnival, an annual outdoor event filled with fun for the whole family, will be held this year on Saturday, 25 August, at Sha Tin Racecourse. The Carnival will again extend from the Racecourse Grandstand to Penfold Park, to offer a spectrum of entertainment. Ticket combos at HK$60 each will go on sale from Monday, 13 August, at 40 designated Off-Course Betting Branches. The onsite “Guess the Winner” contest of the annual Jockeys’ Sprint will offer prizes totalling HK$40,000*, while the winner of the “Share Your Best Moment!” photo competition will take home a GoPro HERO6 Black Camera.

The Carnival will again extend from the Racecourse Grandstand to Penfold Park, to offer a spectrum of entertainment.

At this year’s Carnival, horse lovers and those want to experience the physical benefits of the racing sport, can join two brand new events – “Junior Jockey Challenge” where participants are given fitness tests simulating those used for trainee recruitment, and “Cool things about Horses”, to help them improve their horse knowledge.  Other new events include the EverBlock “Little Architect” STEM Zone and the 4M STEAM Fun Academy, where the young ones can improve their STEM knowledge. The Inflatable Game Zone will feature a number of new installations, such as Castle Slide.

For ease of navigation, the Carnival offers six fun and game zones. Stage performances, roving shows and prize-winning games can be enjoyed throughout the day. Outdoor fun at Penfold Park includes the ever-popular Pony Ride (see Attachment 1 for further information), Photo Taking with Shetland Ponies , as well as the all-new Water Gun Land. On the turf track, the annual Jockeys’ Sprint  (5:00pm) will be as exciting as it is a speculate to watch, while the first grass trials (5:45pm) of the 2018/19 season will offer visitors a sneak preview of the racing action ahead of the new season, where the opening meeting is scheduled for Sunday, 2 September.

The Pre-Season Carnival, to be staged from 11:00am to 7:30p.m on 25 August, is open to everyone. Ticket combos will go on sale from Monday, 13 August, at 40 designated Off-Course Betting Branches (for full list please see Attachment 2), until sold out. Each ticket combo costs HK$60 and includes an admission ticket (HK$10), a food and beverage cash coupon (HK$10), four game coupons (HK$40) and a merchandise discount coupon. There is no admission charge for children aged three and below.
