1600m – Turf

1 Rufus King Won three last year but not improved this. Never run beyond 1400m and not certain to stay.
2 Il Primo Sole John Gosden-Frankie Dettori combination. After won novice on all-weather ran fair eighth in G1 in France. Hard to assess.
3 Lethal Steps Just joined Andrew Balding from Ireland where won first two last year but since shown not up to Group class. A hard task.
4 Finniston Farm Some good form but stopped improving and held by Crack On Crack On.
5 First Contact Not run since won impressively over around 1400m on soft ground in March. If handles different conditions may be well handicapped.
6 Landshark Hard to assess. Was quickly put into Group races. Well beaten ninth in G1 Irish 2000 Guineas latest.
7 Qaysar Won three in row before well beaten favourite behind Crack On Crack On. That makes support difficult.
8 James Cook Out of depth in G2 Dante Stakes. May do better over shorter trip here.
9 Petrus Been raced out of his depth in Pattern races. Hard to assess but unlikely winner.
10 Bond Street Steadily improving. Won latest after checked in run when good second over 1600m on fast ground previously. Lacks turn of foot.
11 Completion Solid performer including when runner-up to Crack On Crack On last time. 3lb better off but be hard to turn the tables.
12 Moqarrar Improved when second stepped up to 1600m on all-weather latest. 25-1 then. Needs more.
13 Desert Doctor Four wins in sprints on all-weather. Not run beyond 1400m. Unlikely to appreciate trip.
14 Ventura Knight Admirably tough. Won five from 15 including latest in similar conditions. Others more scope for improvement.
15 Ballymount Last on reappearance in France last month. Unappealing.
16 Curiosity This the target since good second after troubled run in good handicap on reappearance last month. Live chance.
17 Full Moon Troubled run when fifth in G3 a week ago. Not obvious candidate on overall form for powerful stable.
18 Crack On Crack On Eyecatching when weaved his way through field from long way back to win competitive handicap over around 1600m last time. 7lb higher but improving and strong pace will suit.
19 George of Hearts Jockey Jamie Spencer won this race four times including last two years. Second last time at Ascot on fast ground over 1400m. Winner won again since. Trip fine and will be held up.
20 Desert Wind Not run on turf since debut last year. Won three on all-weather over further. Up in handicap. Unlikely winner.
21 Vale of Kent Three wins all over 1400m on all-weather. Run well on turf but not proved stays trip.
22 Magnificent 0 from 6 and up 6lb after two narrow defeats this year but could figure if ridden with more restraint.
23 Stylehunter Improving and won easily over 2000m on all-weather latest. Badly handicapped with Corrosive on earlier run.
24 Sam Gold Won well last time when soft ground suited. Different conditions now and big step up in class.
25 Maverick Officer Decent performance to win handicap over around 1600m on fast ground eight days ago. 5lb penalty but not ruled out.
26 Alfa McGuire Narrowly beaten both runs this year. Conditions fine. Similar chance to Breath Caught. Needs better.
27 Corrosive Conditions will suit. Won big field handicap over course and distance last time to make it three wins from four races. Still needs more.
28 Simpson Won one from 10. Badly handicapped. Very unlikely winner.
29 Ostilio Has good, improving form. Won well last time in similar conditions. Looks well handicapped and good chance.
30 Statuario Won handicap off mark of 80 last month but well beaten since off 90 and not well handicapped.
Reserves
31 Band of Outlaws Ran respectably on faster ground last time when troubled run but not notably well handicapped.
32 Bullingdon Interesting. Lightly raced improver won over 1600m on all-weather latest and could improve past 4lb higher mark.
33 Breath Caught Favourite when won handicap over 1600m on reappearance. Fair third since and handicapper not been harsh.
