The Hong Kong Macau Trophy (Handicap) - 12 May 2018 Sha Tin Racemeeting

11/05/2018 11:36

In accordance with routine practice, post-arrival urine samples were taken from the four visiting horses from Macau declared to race in The Hong Kong Macau Trophy (Handicap) to be conducted at the Sha Tin Racecourse tomorrow.

The Stewards have been advised by the Club’s Head of Racing Laboratory, Dr T S M Wan, that the urine samples taken from MISTER KAOPU and VICTORY MEGASTAR after arriving in Hong Kong were found, upon analysis, to contain a prohibited substance, such substance being as a result of treatment with a registered veterinary medication prior to departing Macau.  Dr Wan has further advised that subsequent urine samples taken from both horses on Thursday, 10 May 2018 were also found to be positive to the same substance.

It has been established that the administration of the treatment to MISTER KAOPU and VICTORY MEGASTAR was not declared on routine medication declaration documents submitted to the Club prior to the horses departing Macau.

After being alerted to the information provided by Dr Wan, Mr James Moore, the trainer of MISTER KAOPU and VICTORY MEGASTAR, made application to the Stewards for the horses to be withdrawn from the stated race.  The Stewards have acceded to this request and accordingly MISTER KAOPU and VICTORY MEGASTAR have been officially withdrawn from this race.

Mr Moore will be interviewed regarding this matter prior to tomorrow’s Sha Tin racemeeting.
