2400m – Turf

Admire Eikan Raced primarily in 1800-2000m range. Plagued with injury, sat out all of 2017. Returned for win in January at level lower over 2000m, then finished 9th last out at this level over 2000m with outside draw and no cover. Only 2nd time at 2400m or above. Extra 400m likely a plus. Can run from any position.
Erimo Zipangu Has best 3rd-place finish from 5 bids at this level. Ran third in January at 2200m, but 10th last out on 10 March over 2500m after 2-month layoff. Should be sharper with less time between races.
Ho O Dream 4-year-old colt with 3 wins and 2 thirds in career 10 starts. Ended year on 2 wins at lower level over 2400m, then, in January, finished fourth at first time at this level. Took on 3400m G3 last out, ran 7th. Missed break in both starts. Wins have all come at Tokyo, with only one 12th-place finish at Hanshin (G2, 2400m).
Ichi Dai Consistent and honest runner in 2000-2500m range. Winless in 3 bids at this distance, but finished 4th last out one class lower. Tends to run midfield or from rear. Excellent late speed. Second run at Hanshin should bring better results.
Koei One Man 7-year-old raced primarily in 2000-2400m range with 12 races at this level from early last summer, from which he has made board only 4 times. Best a second over 2400m at Kyoto in October. Races from off the pace. Not promising.
Lycabettos Likely top choice, this 4-year-old filly jumped to top level after three-race winning streak from debut. Ran fourth in G3 last out, on 13 January over 2000m. Runs from rear. Extra distance and step down in class both pluses.
Meikei Legend 5-year-old gave poor showing last out in early December in first bid at this level. First race since then. Has been given considerable work. Improvement possible.
Meiner Leone 6-year-old raced primarily in 2000-2600m range with 11 races in the top three spots from 33 total starts. Moved up to this class two starts ago. Ran fourth at Kyoto over 2400m in February. Habitually slow out of the gate, last out missed break but ran solidly to finish 7th in Nakayama 2500m. Broke maiden in Hanshin 2400m and ran fourth at level lower in December.
Sammaru Home 8-year-old has not had win since July 2015, 31 starts ago. Surprised with fourth in 3000m open-class race in January. Not considered a contender.
Suzuka Vista 7-year-old returning from over 4-months layoff. Has run on pace in last three starts at 2000-2200m, all at this level, with best a second. Has done well without prep race. Could surprise.
T O Forte 4-year-old colt on two-win streak moving up to this class for first time. Experienced at distance, but has only fourth and fifth at Hanshin over 2200m and 2000m respectively. Tends to run on pace. Good late speed. May be good for a surprise.
