The Stewards have interviewed Mr W Y So and Jockey J Moreira regarding Mr So’s application to add Sheepskin Cheek Pieces to the equipment carried by RELENTLESS ME in this race. RELENTLESS ME has won two of its three race starts in Hong Kong including being successful at its most recent start on 25 June 2017. On that occasion RELENTLESS ME carried only a Ring Bit.

Mr So stated that he had been advised by Jockey Moreira that in each of its three starts last season RELENTLESS ME, through immaturity, did not concentrate properly in any of its races in particular over the latter stages. He said although the horse was able to be successful twice, J Moreira was of the opinion following its last start that the addition of either Sheepskin Cheek Pieces or Blinkers would assist the horse in this respect.

Mr So added that he had barrier trialed RELENTLESS ME on two occasions this season in the lead up to this racemeeting and that in the second of these barrier trials he added Sheepskin Cheek Pieces to the horse’s gear and had been pleased with the manner in which the horse had trialed in this piece of equipment.

Jockey Moreira confirmed the advice given to the Stewards by Mr So and stated that he had been pleased by the way RELENTLESS ME had applied itself in its most recent trial with Sheepskin Cheek Pieces fitted and therefore felt that the addition of this piece of equipment would assist RELENTLESS ME in its future race starts.

After having considered the submissions put forward by both Mr So and Jockey Moreira and having viewed the relevant race and trial videos, the Stewards have approved for RELENTLESS ME to carry Sheepskin Cheek Pieces and a Ring Bit in the stated race.
