G2 – 1800m – Turf

1

Sense Of Occasion

Below best at first run since May when 10.4 lengths 8th to Winx in G2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on 2 September. This is easier race and was second-up 5.7 lengths 3rd to Winx and Hartnell in G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) last April. Generally ridden off the pace and is especially effective on soft ground.

2

Red Excitement

Gave the champion mare Winx a scare when established big lead in the G2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) here on 2 September, and was beaten one length into second place. Same tactics didn’t work when 9.3 lengths 7th behind Winx in the G1 George Main Stakes on 16 September. Better suited here given less depth in race. Likely leader who performs best on good ground.

3

Havana Cooler

Slow to begin and never in contention when 7.9 lengths last of 7 behind Comin’ Through in G3 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m) at Randwick on 16 September. That was first run since April. Placed second-up at 2000m at G3 level last time but that followed first-up win. Three wins have come on good tracks and usually ridden well back in the field.

4

Mackintosh

Ridden forward and battled on fairly when 7.7 lengths 5th to Winx in the G1 George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on 16 September. Won two Group 3 races at 2000m and 2200m on good ground and ridden forward on each occasion.

5

Maurus

Hung in down straight and didn’t finish off when 6.7 lengths 6th to Got Unders in G3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) at Newcastle on 15 September. Placed in G2 Hollindale Stakes at most recent run this distance and rise in trip does suit today. Generally ridden back. Capable all conditions but does appreciate soft and heavy ground. Tongue tie comes off for this run.

6

Spectroscope

Made some late ground when 4.8 lengths 3rd to Got Unders in G3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) at Newcastle on 15 September. Has won up to 2000m and rise in distance likely to suit. Usually races well off the speed. Capable all conditions but three of four wins have come on rain affected ground.

7

Classic Uniform

Front-runner suited by drop in distance after 2.2 lengths 5th to Libran in G3 Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on 16 September. Placed two previous runs at 1800m and 1900m. Goes forward, capable all track conditions.

8

Embley

In form galloper stepping up in class after successive wins at 1600m this track. Latest 1.8 lengths win from Darci’s Affair in Benchmark 90 Handicap on 16 September. Has led in past two wins. Capable all conditions and has won up to 2000m so rise in distance no concern.

9

Shalmaneser

Had tough run pushing forward out wide when 16.5 lengths last of 8 behind Embley in Randwick 1600m Benchmark 90 Handicap on 16 September. Pulled up displaying a poor post-race recovery. Usually races handy and capable good and soft ground but looks to face task in this class.

10

Perfect Rhyme

Promising filly taking on the boys. Ran on well when 0.5 lengths 2nd to Zanbagh in G3 Tibbie Stakes (1400m) at Newcastle on 15 September. Runner-up to Bonneval in G1 Australian Oaks (2400m) last April. Can race handy to speed or midfield. Handles wet or dry. Up to this level.
