G1 – 1600m – Turf

1

Happy Clapper

Rates highly on 1.3 lengths 2nd to champion mare Winx in the G1 George Main Stakes, this course and distance, on 16 September. Boasts one win, three seconds from five starts at Randwick 1600m. Versatile racing style, usually stalks the speed. Capable on good to soft ground.

2

Foxplay

Talented filly who finished 5.8 lengths 3rd to accomplished stablemate Winx and Happy Clapper in the G1 George Main Stakes, this course and distance, on 16 September. Meets Happy Clapper on same weight terms from that race. Won only other start at Randwick 1600m and has great record this track. Can be ridden forward or back. Capable all conditions but excels on soft ground.

3

Sound Proposition

Former New Zealander who won at first two starts for this stable, at 1600m and 1800m at Randwick in June and July. Then eight weeks break before nose second to Got Unders in G3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) at Newcastle on 15 September. Capable of leading as he did last start and won on good, soft and heavy ground.

4

He’s Our Rokkii

Below best but was hampered by riderless horse when 7.8 lengths 6th to Bonneval in G2 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on 9 September. Returns to Sydney where he won two races on soft ground at this track in April last year. All wins have come with a trail just behind the speed. G1 winner at the distance who performs on good and soft ground.

5

Red Excitement

Gave the champion mare Winx a scare when established big lead in the G2 Chelmsford Stakes, this course and distance on 2 September, and was beaten one length into second place. Same tactics didn’t work when 9.3 lengths 7th behind Winx in the G1 George Main Stakes on 16 September. Better suited under handicap conditions of this race. Likely leader who performs best on good ground.

6

Mccreery

Fitter for second run this season when 7.6 lengths 4th to Winx in the G1 George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on 16 September. Improved by that run and much better suited under handicap conditions. Strong finisher capable all conditions but at very best on soft ground.

7

I Am A Star

Talented filly who won G1 Myer Classic, at this distance, against own sex last season. Unplaced three runs this season. Latest was 3 lengths 7th to Sword Of Light in G2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m – Mares) at Flemington on 16 September. Does drop sharply in weight but has to improve just as sharply. All wins on good ground. Races handy to midfield.

8

Zanbagh

Quality mare who stalked speed in 0.5 lengths win from Perfect Rhyme in G3 Tibbie Stakes (1400m – Mares) at Newcastle on 15 September. Runner-up to Foxplay in G1 Queen of the Turf Stakes at this course and distance in April. Can race handy but usually ridden back. Capable all conditions with especially good record on heavy ground.

9

Tom Melbourne

Has finished second at each of his three runs this season, his only starts for the Waller stable. Battled strongly when head second to Comin’ Through in the G3 Ritchie Handicap (1400m) at Randwick on 16 September. Meets Comin’ Through on better weight terms. Usually races close to speed. Best form on good ground but does have one soft track win.

10

Egg Tart

Has to pass vet test (irritated eye) to be confirmed runner. Ran on late when 4 lengths 2nd to Deploy in the G2 Theo Marks (1300m) at Rosehill on 9 September which was won in track record time. Dual G1 Oaks winner, at 2010m and 2200m, against fillies last season. Advantaged by rise in distance. Usually ridden back. Won three races on good ground and three races on heavy ground.

11

Comin’ Through

Promising four-year-old with Moreira to ride. Unbeaten in two starts this season. Latest was strong on-pace win by head from Tom Melbourne in the G3 Ritchie Handicap (1400m) at Randwick on 16 September. Capable on good and soft ground and usually ridden close to speed.

12

Savile Row

New Zealander who had first run in Australia when 9.2 lengths 11th to Redkirk Warrior in G2 Bobbie Lewis Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on 16 September. Suited by rise in distance and is Group 1 placed at distance in New Zealand. Capable all conditions. Versatile racing style.

13

Snitzson

Battled on fairly from midfield when 3.3 lengths 6th to Theanswermyfriend in Listed Montanan Handicap (1400m) at Flemington on 16 September. Up in class but was Group 1 placed, at this distance, against own age in Australian Guineas last season. Usually ridden back. All races have been on good ground.

14

Embley

In form galloper stepping up in class from successive wins at this course and distance. Latest 1.8 lengths win from Darci’s Affair in Benchmark 90 Handicap on 16 September. Has led in past two wins. Capable all conditions.
