Epsom Handicap Day, Sprinters Stakes and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe races to be simulcast for betting

The Hong Kong Jockey Club will simulcast for betting six races from the Epsom Handicap Day meeting in Australia on Saturday, 30 September.

Epsom Handicap Day from Royal Randwick Racecourse, Australia (1st race 12:05pm)

The Epsom Handicap Day is one of the key events of the Sydney Spring Carnival featuring three Group 1 races: the Epsom Handicap, The Metropolitan and the Flight Stakes. Over AUS$3.7 million of prize money are on offer ensuring a day of competitive and high class action.

Subject to change, the six races to be simulcast are:

Hill Stakes (G2 1800m for 3yo+)
Flight Stakes (G1 1600m for 3yo fillies)
Premiere Stakes (G2 1200m for 3yo+)
Epsom Handicap (G1 1600m hcp for 3yo+)
The Metropolitan (G1 2400m hcp for 3yo+)
BM90 Handicap (1200m for 3yo+)

Final declarations with barrier draws for the Epsom Handicap Day races will be available on Friday, 29 September.

On Sunday, 1 October, the Hong Kong Jockey Club will simulcast the Sprinters Stakes from Japan during Sha Tin’s afternoon race meeting, and four Group 1 races from that evening’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in France.

Sprinters Stakes from Nakayama Racecourse, Japan (2:40pm)

The best of Japan’s speed stars will line up for the Sprinters Stakes (G1 1200m for 3yo+) which kicks off Japan’s autumn Grade 1 season. Hong Kong is represented by BLIZZARD who warmed up to the challenge with an encouraging second in the Class 1 HKSAR Chief Executive’s Cup (1200m) on the season opening day at Sha Tin. His trainer Ricky Yiu is no stranger to international G1 glory having been successful in a number of overseas ventures with SACRED KINGDOM, AMBER SKY and ULTRA FANTASY. The last-named is the latest Hong Kong winner of the Sprinters Stakes, having triumphed in 2010.

Arc de Triomphe races from Chantilly Racecourse, France (1st race 10:05pm)

The world’s finest middle distance horses will once again gather for France’s annual autumn showpiece – the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1 2400m for 3yo+ colts, fillies and mares). For the second time since 1944, the Arc will not be run at Longchamp due to reconstruction works and Chantilly is the temporary venue. 

The simulcast is completed with the coverage of the Prix de l’Opera (G1 2000m for 3yo+ fillies and mares), Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp (G1 1000m for 2yo+) and the Prix de la Foret (G1 1400m for 3yo+).
