2000m – Turf

Casapueblo |
Supplemented for this after a series of good displays at Group/Listed level. Is overdue a win and very much a leading contender despite his top weight. |
2 |
Good Gift |
He was a pale shadow of himself at Toulouse last time. Is best judged on two prior seconds in Listed grade, having chased home a future G3 winner at Cagnes-sur-Mer in February. |
3 |
Morphewan |
Continues to hold his form well after a busy winter. He probably gave the winner too much rope when a beaten favourite (second) at Bordeaux last time, and is worth considering. |
4 |
Trabuco |
Not disgraced when third of five behind a hot favourite in a Listed contest over longer here last time, and the drop back in trip may play to his strengths, having won four times over this distance. |
5 |
Orandi |
In the form of his life after winning a big Irish handicap, followed by another cracking effort when third in a similar contest at Doncaster (GB). One to consider on his return to the land of his birth. |
6 |
Gamestars |
One of two supplementary entries from the powerful André Fabre yard with Casapueblo. Held in high regard (has a group entry in June) and expected to improve considerably for running-on eighth in a Class 2 race at Chantilly. |
7 |
Rock Blanc |
Very useful on his day although he has been a slow to hit form so far this season. Met some traffic problems when fourth at Saint-Cloud last time and can’t be dismissed. |
8 |
Watch Him |
Made an eye-catching return when a strong finishing third on the Chantilly all-weather. Probably fresher than some of these and one to monitor in the betting. |
9 |
Saint Etienne |
Very much an in and out performer. He proved successful at Cagnes-sur-Mer in the winter but has twice failed to deliver since then. |
10 |
Everillo |
Last year’s third is following a similar path, having been dropped in class on seasonal debut. Not disgraced when second in a Class 3 race at Saint-Cloud and rates an each-way chance. |
11 |
Partenit |
He may have been unsuited by the way the race was run when a beaten favourite (fourth) at Lyon last time. Clearly capable of better and was fourth in this last season. |
12 |
American Lawyer |
Second favourite in a Class 3 race last time, he made only a limited impact by staying on into third. Is clearly capable of better but he will need to step up to be a force here. |
13 |
Zora |
The German raider adds an international dimension to this race. Her third in a Listed race and attractive handicap mark make her an interesting proposition. |
14 |
En Or |
The Irish raider has won over a wide variety of trips and far from disgraced (seventh) in decent company over an inadequate 1400m at Naas in March. |
15 |
Hypercore |
Had a nightmare introduction to Longchamp when hopelessly boxed-in last time. Had been building nicely before that on the all-weather and so a decent run here expected. |
16 |
Tribal Chief |
This smart British-trained performer made big strides forward last term (four wins), and plenty to like about second in a well contested Newmarket handicap in April. So a potential player. |
17 |
Almiro |
Made a welcome return to turf after a poor run on the all-weather, having delivered at 17-1 in a Class 2 handicap at Saint-Cloud, giving the impression that he had still had something left in the locker. |
18 |
Russipant Fal |
Didn’t take to Meydan following four consecutive unplaced efforts there in the winter, but back on song when easily winning a Class 3 race at Saint-Cloud. Has more on his plate but going the right way. |
19 |
Villa Des Arts |
A dual course and distance winner, the filly capitalised on her low draw to spring a 16-1 surprise here last time. This promises to be a lot tougher. |
20 |
Love Is Gold |
In better form earlier in the campaign and point to prove after two lacklustre efforts. |
