G1 – 1600m – Turf

Accidental Agent A solid performer at up to 1600m but is not up to G1 standard. Well beaten behind Rhododendron in G1 Lockinge Stakes last month.

Beat The Bank Won five times last year including impressive G2 success but disappointing since and twelfth in Lockinge. Needs to rise again.
Benbatl Won five times at up to 2000m for trainer Saeed bin Suroor, who has won the Queen Anne seven times. Easily won G1 Dubai Turf at Meydan over 1800m. Trip may be too short but good chance.
Century Dream A fascinating contender. Rapidly improving and won G3 at Epsom earlier this month. This is a big step up but not a hopeless case.
Deauville Capable five-year-old who acts well on fast ground and was good third in this race last year. Only won four of 19 starts and fifth in G1 Lockinge but likely to be involved.
Lightning Spear Disappointing ninth in Queen Anne last year and not won in six Ascot appearances but only just beaten by Rhododendron on reappearance in G1 Lockinge. If he reproduces that then clear chance.
Limato All nine wins over 1200m or 1400m and top class over those trips. Dual G1 winner and suited by fast ground but yet to show best form over 1600m. Disappointing tenth in G1 Lockinge.
Lord Glitters Won four times in France before joining David O’Meara. Won valuable handicap over 1600m at Ascot last year. Not run since second in Lincoln Handicap in March. Fast ground an unknown. Probably not good enough.
Oh This Is Us Won eight times but never above Listed class. Eighth in Queen Anne last year and beaten in Listed race last month. Worthy but only an outside chance.
Recoletos Progressive and staked claim by winning G1 Prix d’Ispahan over 1850m at Longchamp last month. Will want fast pace. Fast ground a question mark.
So Beloved A good servant but now eight and sole Group win was in 2015. This year’s form not good enough.
Suedois Splendidly tough and versatile seven-year-old who won Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes at Keeneland last year. Seventh in G1 Lockinge on return. Will need to do better.
Yoshida USA trained Tepin won the Queen Anne in 2016 and G1 winning Yoshida is an intriguing runner for trainer  William Mott. It’s a tough task but could spring a surprise.
Zonderland Only just beaten by Lightning Spear in G2 Celebration Mile Stakes at Goodwood last year but hung when 11th in G1 Lockinge on sole run this year. Needs a miracle.
Rhododendron Favourite to beat colts and give Aidan O’Brien his fourth Queen Anne success. Triple G1 winner backed up by top class placed form. Beat several of this race’s rivals when winning G1 Lockinge. A worthy favourite.
